MetaQuotes Software, the developer of the popular MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms, today announced the release of an update to MT5.
The enhancements in build 1240 are various but the main ones seem to concern accelerated operations of the terminal.
- MT5 now offers accelerated update of the list of open orders and positions during high-frequency trading (50 and more operations per second).
- The initial synchronization of the terminal with a trade server is optimized and greatly accelerated in case of a large amount of symbols (tens of thousands).
- Memory consumption by the terminal is optimized and significantly reduced.
- The company also added a functionality for saving and restoring the depth of market settings when closing/opening the terminal.

A number of fixes have been implemented. The additions include new properties for the OrderGetString, HistoryOrderGetString, and HistoryDealGetString functions responsible for receiving data on orders and deals.
The company says that its team is currently working on adapting the MT5 interface for high resolution screens (4K). This functionality was already implemented in the latest build of MT4.
