New MT5 build targets fans of automated trading

MetaQuotes Software Corp, the software developer behind the famous MetaTrader series of trading platforms, earlier today presented the newest build of MetaTrader 5 (MT5).

The 1100 build comes along with a raft of improvements, concerning the MQL5 Cloud Network, virtual hosting, market and even the delivery of messages into the mailbox. The biggest advantages, however, concern the work with automated trading programs, or, as they are also known, expert advisors (EAs).

The latest build has enhanced the Navigator window, so that it now contains the list of Expert Advisors running on the active trading account. On top of this, accompanying each EA name in the list is a chart on which the EA is running. There is an icon displaying whether the EA is allowed to trade.

The context menu now features commands for enabling or disabling automated trading for any of the Expert Advisors, as well as for viewing its properties or removing it from the chart.

Next, we should mention the improvements to the Tester: the status of connection to MQL5 Cloud Network is now displayed in the Agents Manager. Thanks to that, traders can easily check if they can receive tasks from the cloud computing network after they install agents.

After some improvements and bug fixes in the Strategy Tester, the time spent on intermediate preparatory operations and network latency is markedly cut. Testing and optimization are now faster in all operating modes: working with local testing agents, with a farm of agents in the local network and using MQL5 Cloud Network.

To mention some of the other enhancements, let’s note that the latest MT5 build adds a display of the number of unread emails in the “Mailbox” tab of the Toolbox window.
