Bitcoin exchange Gatecoin warned that has received several reports of fraudulent emails being sent by a person or group of people using the alias “Samantha Anderson” from numerous Gmail and Hotmail accounts.
They claim to be a HR representative from Gatecoin offering employment opportunities in Canada and have requested confidential personal information from individuals to redeem these job offers.
Gatecoin remided:
- Only emails sent from @gatecoin.com addresses are authentic (e.g. [email protected]).
- Gatecoin does not currently have any offices or operations in Canada, and are unlikely to be expanding there soon and so are NOT hiring in Canada.
- All Gatecoin’s current job opportunities are listed on the company’s website and are only based at their offices in Hong Kong.
These emails are fake and very likely part of a phishing scam.
