CySEC temporary pauses its certification examinations

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) just announced that, no certification examinations (advanced or basic) will be carried out during February and March 2018, due to the up-date of the examination material, in the light of the new Investment Services and Activities and Regulated Markets Law of 2017.

The current examination material will be not valid, and form around the 1st February 2018 the new study manual is expected to be available and be send to all the candidates (that have already booked their exam date during the above period with no extra cost). It is anticipated that the exams will commence again in April 2018. CySEC will keep all interested parties informed and up to date with further announcements.

All candidates that have already registered for examination, and were assigned for an examination date in February and March, will be given a new examination date by CISI.

Priority will be given to persons that are currently employed to organizations that are under CySEC’s supervision. CySEC will temporarily stop accepting any applications.

In case that any candidate will not be able to take that exam at the new date that will be provided, he will have the option to choose an alternative date without any extra cost.

Additionally, those candidates will be given the option to cancel their exam registration with a full refund.

For persons that were granted an exemption under article 5(8) of R.A.D. 174 as emended, the period during which there will be no exams, will not count towards the period provided in order to be registered in the certification registry. Regarding people who will be granted an exemption, during February and March, in order to be registered in the certification registry, the exemption period start counting from the first day of recommencing of the exams.
