Oanda integrates StockTwits social media streams

Oanda announced its latest in a series of steps to attract more retail traders, the integration of StockTwits’ price alert notifications and social media streams with its iPhone App. StockTwits is best known in the investment community for creating the $-STOCKTICKER tag for identifying and following investing ideas and information across the web.

Oanda has been traditionally strong with institutional and HNW traders, but is taking steps to strengthen its retail franchise. Oanda recently launched its own FX social network, called fxUnity and also recently added MT4 trading — both targeted at retail traders.

We’ve recently speculated that these and other changes at Oanda, including major changes in senior management (CEO, CFO…) are (at least in part) geared toward preparing for a possible IPO for Oanda. Stay tuned….
