ASX registers 28.9% MoM decrease in futures trading volumes in October

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) registered a steep month-on-month decrease in futures trading in October 2015, with volumes down by more than 28% from September 2015 levels. In tune with what the rest of the industry has exhibited, trading volumes also failed to match the results achieved during exceptionally strong October 2014.

In October 2015, futures and options on futures volume fell 28.4% from September 2015 levels to 9,353,262 contracts. The result was 13% below the result recorded in October 2014.

Futures volumes for October 2015 amounted to 9,187,920 contracts, down 28.9% from September 2015 and down 12% from October 2014 levels.

Options on futures volumes totalled 165,342 contracts last month, providing a good piece of news, as the result was 23.8% higher than in September 2015.
