AMF issues impersonators scam warning

The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) has warned against several impersonators websites – www.lascpi.fr and www.scpi-gouv.fr.

The websites are using the regulator’s name and logo improperly to propose to investors investment simulators and practical guides to investment in real estate investment companies (SCPIs).

The www.lascpi.fr and www.scpi-gouv.fr websites state that they offer investors investment simulators and guides to investment in real estate investment companies (SCPIs). The association of the AMF name and logo with these sites could make website visitors think that the AMF approves their content. However, as the regulator pointed out earlier this week, it neither produces nor supervises any simulator of investments in real estate investment companies (SCPIs).

CySEC and ASIC have also recently issued similar warnings.

The AMF reminded that the reproduction of its logo is strictly controlled and that it must not be used in an ambiguous manner that could create a risk of confusion.
