Ukraine’s SBU stops a Forex scam firm funding terrorist organizations

Ukraine’s special-purpose law-enforcement agency and main government security agency, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), has just announced that has stopped the activity of a group of swindlers, who participated in illegal financial scams under the dealerships of a Forex firm (no names have been shared yet).

According to Ukrayinska Pravda news, fraudsters have been scamming financial investors in Kiev, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odessa and Lviv areas.

SBU speaker commented in a statement:

The organizers of the scam misled the so-called “investors” through a specially created Web Resources, using a special software to simulate the process of e-commerce.

Part of the criminal activity profits were translated right away into bank accounts in the Russian Federation. These funds were used to finance the so-called terrorist organizations Donetsk People’s Republic and the People’s Republic of Lugano (DNI and LC).

During the search, investigators have seized security services “black accounts”, computers, special software, bank cards and documentation, which confirms the illegality of these financial scams.

The SBU officers have also found “guidelines and documents that testify to the cooperation with the financial institutions of the Russian Federation.”

The matter has been set down for a criminal case (financing of terrorism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
