FXStreet goes to school – launches Masters level trading course with University of Essex Online

Opinions vary tremendously with regard to the plethora of privately owned FX training firms which have established business across Britain and North America, holding regular classroom sessions on how to master the retail FX market.

The difficulty so far with such entities is that they are exempt from financial regulation, due to their service being training rather than financial advice or culminating in the sale of FX products.

Many of these firms follow a similar business model, in that their interest is to form introducing broker relationships with retail firms and take commission for referring delegates, as well as sell often expensive and unproven software, hence the plethora of consumer negativity across many forums on this subject.

As an antidote to this, FXStreet has partnered with the University of Essex Online to create an online program, aimed at providing students with an introduction into trading and investment. The course, Financial Trading Analysis (FTA), is a short MSc level introduction to finance for those who have an active interest in trading, investment and risk management, and want to learn more about financial markets and how they operate. The first edition starts on January, 13th and the cut off for applications is January, 8th.

By partnering with the University of Essex Online, FXStreet is able to lay claim to being the first organization to offer a course which is hosted by a formal educational institution, which stands it in good stead for being able to operate ethically and ensure correct tuition is provided to delegates, culminating in a formal qualification.

This course is focused on how financial securities and assets are analysed, used and traded by different market participants for different applications. It develops students understanding of different asset classes (including foreign exchange, commodities, stocks, and derivatives), analytical approaches, risk management strategies and trading psychology.

Students will be able to put their learning into play on live trading simulators while benefiting from the insight of experienced industry professionals. Additionally, this 4 month course is worth 20 credits at Level 7 (Masters Level), which can be carried forward and converted should a student progress onto one of the University of Essex Online’s related Business Masters courses.

FXStreet considers that the financial markets are important to individuals, organisations and entire nations; affecting everything from personal wealth to corporate behavior.

Whether delegates are looking to build on their undergraduate business studies with an eye to financial management, they can take the first step towards a career in investment banking or brokerage or create a portfolio as a private investor, the Financial Trading Analysis course aims to provide a solid grounding in how financial markets operate and how industry professionals approach them.

Carolina May, CEO of FXStreet, declared: “In trading, the importance of good training as a basis for the future is crucial. For this reason, we have decided to start this collaboration with University of Essex Online, an academic institution of recognized experience and prestige.”
