Darren Shapland to retire from Ladbrokes’ Board


Ladbrokes PLC (LON:LAD) has announced that Darren Shapland will retire from the Board on September 24, 2015, following six years in the role of a non-executive director, during five of which he was Chair of the Audit Committee.

The company has already started searching for a replacement non-executive director who will also take on the role of Chair of the Audit Committee with an announcement expected in due course.

ladbrokes_logo_redPreviously, Mr Shapland was Chief Executive of Carpetright plc between 2012 and 2013 having joined as a non-executive director in 2011. Before that he was Chief Financial Officer and Group Development Director of J Sainsbury plc from 2005 to 2011 as well as Chairman of Sainsburys Bank. Prior to this he was Group Finance Director of Carpetright plc (2002-2005) and Finance Director of Superdrug Stores plc (2002-2002) and held a number of senior financial and operational roles with Arcadia Group (1988-2000).

Ladbrokes is a key licensee of Playtech PLC (LON:PTEC), which is entitled to receive £75 million ($114.4 million), under an agreement reached with regards to the merger of Ladbrokes Group and Coral Group unveiled on July 24, 2015.
