CME Group sets trading volume record for FX futures & options on March 10

Increased FX market volatility on March 10, 2016, has pushed Forex volumes at international derivatives marketplace CME Group Inc (NASDAQ:CME) to a record high.

The company reached a trading volume record for total FX futures and options on Thursday (March 10th), of 2,517,334 contracts, This result exceeded by 6% the previous record of 2,371,202 contracts set on May 6, 2010. In addition, FX futures set a new record of 2,350,478 surpassing the previous record of 2,208,417 marked on May 6, 2010.

The ECB rate decision has spurred active trading in Euro FX Futures (EUR/USD). They were the main driver of the record day with $127.13 billion (‎€113.5 billion) in notional traded in futures and $18.5 billion (‎€16.7 billion) in options.

CME Group FX futures and options contracts are listed by and subject to the rules of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
