LeapRate Exclusive… LeapRate has learned that longtime IG Australia research analyst and market strategist Chris Weston is following in the footsteps of his former boss Tamas Szabo, and has agreed to join rival FX broker Pepperstone.
As was exclusively reported by LeapRate back in October, Pepperstone hired Tamas Szabo, former Australia office head of UK online trading industry leader IG Group Holdings plc (LON:IGG), as its new Group CEO, taking over the reins from Pepperstone co-founders Owen Kerr and Joe Davenport. Since then, Mr. Szabo has been building up his management team with (mainly) former IG people, including the recently-hired new Head of Marketing Meagan Wilson, and now Chris Weston.
Chris Weston had been with IG Australia for twelve years, beginning as an institutional sales trader but rising quickly to become the “face” of IG Australia for the past 10 years in his role as head of research. He is an established figure in the media in Australia and beyond, discussing global macro-economic trends and the impact on financial markets across a range of global television and radio channels, including as a regular on Sky News Business and Bloomberg TV. He also writes regular articles for a number of daily newspapers.
Before IG, Mr. Weston worked at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch, gaining exposure to both institutional equity and fixed income trading.
