LeapRate Exclusive… LeapRate has learned that longtime FX industry executive Alex Mackinnon has left his job as General Manager of Australia based Retail Forex broker AxiTrader.

AxiTrader went outside its ranks (and its home continent) to hire Alex Mackinnon as General Manager in 2013, replacing Quinn Perrott. He had previously been Head of FX Prime Services at Intl FCStone in London, and Head of Trading at ODL Securities.
However when AxiTrader founder Goran Drapac decided to take a step back from active management of the business last year, instead of promoting Mr. Mackinnon AxiTrader again went outside and hired former Oanda Head of APAC Rajesh Yohannan.
Mr. Mackinnon retained his General Manager title, but effectively he was put in charge of growing the company’s AxiPrime institutional Prime of Prime offering. Mr. Yohannan continued to make a number of senior management changes during his first year at the helm of AxiTrader and its parent company AxiCorp. Recent hires include:
- Filippo De Rosa to head its Middle East operations
- Oanda’s Head of China Forex Gavin Ward to head Business Development
- Ivan Rojas as Head of Latin America and Spain
- former Google executive Kevin Tunney replaced Marc Ellison as CMO
And it will be Gavin Ward, who had worked for Rajesh Yohannan at Oanda, who will be taking over as head of AxiTrader’s institutional business, including AxiPrime.
