Japan Exchange Group releases First Half of Fiscal Year, Nikkei 225 Weekly Options with an all-time high

Japan Exchange Group has just released Trading Overview in September 2017 & First Half of Fiscal Year 2017 (April to September).

Cash Equity Market

  • In the first half of FY2017, the daily average trading value for the TSE 1st Section (domestic common stocks) was JPY 2.6589 trillion.
  • In the ETF market, the daily average trading value was JPY 135.6 billion.
  • In September 2017, the daily average trading value for the TSE 1st Section (domestic common stocks) was JPY 2.8221 trillion.
  • In the ETF market, monthly trading value was JPY 2.7497 trillion.

Derivatives Market

  • In the first half of FY2017, total derivatives trading volume was 148,412,376 contracts. In terms of individual product, TOPIX Futures marked its second-highest trading volume over the same period.
  • Total derivatives trading value was JPY 1,211 trillion. Total trading value for equity index derivatives reached JPY 606 trillion, the second-highest trading value over the same period.
  • In September 2017, trading volume for the night session was 9,040,805 contracts and the ratio of the night session was 31.8%.
  • For TOPIX Futures, monthly trading volume reached 3,393,692 contracts, an all-time high.
  • For TSE Mothers Index Futures, monthly trading volume reached 49,858 contracts, breaking previous records for the second consecutive months.
  • For TSE REIT Index futures, monthly trading volume reached 62,831 contracts, an all-time high, and the trading volume for the first half of FY2017 reached 155,035 contracts, a record high on a half-yearly basis.
  • For Nikkei 225 Weekly Options, monthly trading volume reached 52,396 contracts, an all-time high.
