Blockchain Tour Market in Dubai

Dubai is undoubtedly one of the most famous destinations for tourists from around the world. Blockchain is now entering the “game” in Dubai. The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, or for short – DTCM has just launched a blockchain platform called Tourism 2.0, which allows tour operators and hotels and the like to connect directly to each other.

The investment in such a blockchain platform will aim to develop Dubai into the world’s best tourist destination. According to press, DTCM is taking the leap with the new technology accelerate the Dubai 10X strategy that aims to turn the city into the top place for tourists from around the world. Not only that, but the strategy is applied to differentiate Dubai as the place to be for business, tourism and different events. In a sense, the idea is to create the ultimate tourist experience, both leisure and business-like.

FinancialTribune reported that according to DTCM, Tourism 2.0 will “bring Dubai another step closer to achieving the Vision 2020 goal”.

Through the new technology, the B2B blockchain marketplace will allow tour operators and hotels to communicate directly and thus bring the best rates to customers, while all parties remain aware of the latest room rates, occupancy levels and other relevant details.

Financial Tribune just reported the comments of Helal Saeed Al Merri, the director of  DTCM, on the new marketplace:

“By increasing the pace of digital transformation in the travel sector, Dubai is positioned to expand tourism by bringing innovative startups into the ecosystem, which will ultimately deliver value in terms of higher and faster visitor conversion, and greater GDP impact. As the pioneer in adopting the most secure and transparent virtualization technology in the tourism sector, we will be able to streamline booking processes and create democracy in travel for all.”

Blockchain has disrupted a pool of industries and sectors, including real estate, the financial sector, healthcare, consumer goods etc. Now, Dubai is among the very first cities in the world to place such an emphasis on developing an extensive B2B marketplace, which will accelerate the communication between tour operators and hotels. Ultimately, the goal of DTCM is to offer an unparalleled experience for their guests. Essentially, the Dubai 10X strategy means that the government will try to place Dubai 10 years ahead of all competitors (all other global powers). Blockchain will definitely be an integral part in achieving this goal.
