French authorities warn against binary options marketing campaign “Plan B”

A number of French regulators, including the financial markets authority AMF, the Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF), as well as ACPR, an authority attached to the Banque de France, today published a warning against a binary options marketing campaign entitled “Plan B”.

The campaign is conducted mainly through social networks and emails, soliciting French investors to put their money in binary options.

The participants in the campaign operate via leplanb.biz, Interactiveoption.com and BourseBinaire.fr. Some of these websites are associated with Pegase Capital Ltd, a company that was recently fined by Cypriot investments watchdog CySEC.

The French regulators are particularly concerned that the campaign “Plan B” pledges unusually high returns – more than 12% per year, whereas investors are not notified of the high risks involved in binary options investments.

In addition, some of the websites participating in the campaign claim to be authorized by the ACPR. The watchdog insists this is not the case.

Investors are urged not to respond to the solicitations of the companies taking part in “Plan B”. The regulators also note that investors should not respond in particular to a person presenting herself as Julie Maxence, who is responsible for the BourseBinaire.fr website.
