Worldpay Continues Expansion into Latin America

Worldpay said Wednesday that it has expanded its domestic acquiring capabilities into Colombia, strengthening its presence in Latin America.

Furthermore, the company said in a press release that the move enables local merchants to connect with global markets.

The payments technology leader already operates in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. With Colombia now added to its regional footprint.

Worldpay stated that it aims to support both local businesses seeking international growth and global brands targeting Colombian consumers.

“Colombia has one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in Latin America,” said Gabriel de Montessus, group president of global enterprise at Worldpay. “It presents significant opportunities for local businesses to expand, as well as for international brands to serve Colombian consumers.”

Worldpay will offer various services in Colombia, including e-commerce payment technology, multi-layered fraud protection, 3D secure authentication, settlement, dispute management and data insights.

The company also has a local team in the country to help merchants tailor payment strategies based on regional preferences and data-driven insights.

“Our ambition is to be the payments partner these businesses need in order to power their growth,” Montessus added.

This move follows Worldpay’s recent expansion into Mexico and forms part of its broader strategy to grow its domestic acquiring capabilities worldwide.

The company now supports in-country and international processing in 69 global markets.
