Jersey has recently become part of the geographical scope of the direct debit and credit transfer schemes of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) administered by the European Payments Council.
Banks in Jersey are now able to apply to join the SEPA schemes. However, participation in the SEPA schemes is not mandatory: whether to join or not will be a commercial decision for each bank to take.
