Oanda builds its Board as its IPO march continues

Microsoft’s former CMO Mich Mathews joins Oanda’s Board of Directors.

Oanda has announced that former Microsoft Chief Marketing Officer Mich Mathews has joined its Board of Directors. She had spent 22 years at Microsoft before retiring last year.

Other Oanda board members include:

  • representatives of Oanda’s outside investors, Kittu Kolluri (Chairman) from VC firm NEA and Danny Rimer from VC firm Index Ventures,
  • Renato Fassbind, an independent senior advisor and board member of several financial companies, including Vice-Chairman of Swiss Re Holding AG, and
  • Michael Stumm, co-founder of Oanda and a computer engineering professor at the University of Toronto.

It looks to us as though Oanda is building both its management team (e.g. the recent hiring of a new CMO from outside the industry) and BoD with an eye to an IPO in the not-too-distant future. Oanda has also taken new strategic steps under (relatively) new CEO K Duker, including a renewed focus on attracting more retail traders.
