Kraken reports steep increase in number of new accounts, changes fees, expands offering

Bitcoin exchange Kraken has registered more than a twofold rise in the number of new accounts since the announcement of the acquisition of Coinsetter and Cavirtex and the expansion of the company into 37 US states.

The company notes that this steep increase does not include the number of migrated accounts, as a result of the acquisition.

In addition, Kraken unveiled a set of updates.

  • Free deposits campaign

For starters, the company is extending the promotion of free United States (via domestic wire) & Canadian dollar deposits (via Interac & EFT) until April 1, 2016

  • Addition of LTC/CAD pair

As of March 1, 2016, Kraken will allow traders to convert litecoins to Canadian dollars and vice versa.

  • Change to trading fees

The company will be raising the trading fees for all fiat and cryptocurrency pairs, effective March 1, 2016.

  • Change in price precision

The company will be changing price precision in response to traders’ requests. Its bitcoin trading clients have requested that it decreases the degree of price precision so that it is not so easy for orders to jump in front of other orders, simply due to a difference of 0.00001 bitcoin. Meanwhile, the ether trading clients have requested more control in price precision. The company will respond to both types of requests, effective March 1, 2016.
