GMO Payment Gateway Inc (TYO:3769), the online payment services provider owned by GMO Internet Inc. (TYO:9449), today announced another step in its partnership with Taiwanese Neweb Technologies Co., Ltd.
As a part of the upgraded partnership, GMO-PG is investing US$1 million via GMO Global Payment Fund in order to further expand business in the Greater China region and introduce Neweb payment services to the Japanese market.
In February 2014, GMO-PG established a local presence in Taiwan as a branch of its Hong Kong subsidiary, and formed an alliance with Neweb, a major online payment service provider in Taiwan extending its presence in the Greater China region. Utilizing this alliance, GMO-PG provides GMO-PG Global Payment services to businesses in Taiwan.
The enhanced collaboration is forged as the ecommerce market in Taiwan is showing double-digit growth rates every year. It is forecast to reach NT$ 1 trillion (US$30.83 billion) in 2015.
