Some weeks our Forex Industry News ticker at LeapRate seems to be churning out the same ol’ thing – volumes, financial results, broker fines, executive moves, new office here, new product there….
And some weeks, as Monty Python would say, it feels like And Now for Something Completely Different.
Well it was one of those kinds of weeks in the Forex trading world, with news of layoffs, canceled office leases, mergers, mega Whistleblower awards, and quite a lot more.
Some of our most popular, shared and commented-on posts this week at LeapRate included:
Markets.com canceling office leases amid rising layoffs within Playtech group. Back in February LeapRate broke the news of a major restructuring at the Markets.com unit of Teddy Sagi’s online gaming giant Playtech PLC, which included mass layoffs in a restructuring of sales, retention and customer service operations at the retail forex broker. So it should come as not too much of a surprise that Markets.com is looking to cancel a fairly large part of a new lease commitment for office space in the heart of Tel Aviv.
IronFX-FXDD-Nukkleus merger moves a step forward as executives join NUKK Board of Directors. LeapRate Exclusive… LeapRate has learned from regulatory filings that three IronFX affiliated executives have joined the Board of Directors of publicly traded Nukkleus Inc, the shell company controlled by former Tradition North America Chairman Emil Assentato. As was reported exclusively by LeapRate back in June, Nukkleus is in process of effecting a merger with retail forex broker IronFX and FXDD, as well as the Forexware technology platform division of FXDD. So what’s going on? Next steps?
Alpari alum and current Divisa exec Ryan Gagne in line for $45 million Whistleblower award. What’s the best way to make a fortune in FX? Trading? Perhaps starting a brokerage? Becoming a high-performance IB? Well it might just be working for the government. As a Whistleblower. Former Alpari VP of Institutional Sales, and current Divisa Capital executive Ryan Gagne is in line to share a record $90 million Whistleblower payment, related to his cooperation with authorities in uncovering wrongdoing at Gagne’s former employer State Street. And it was all coordinated by famed Bernie Madoff hunter Harry Markopolos.
