EBS experiences sharp increase in trading volumes in August

British multi-asset markets operator ICAP has today published the trading volumes for August at EBS, the company’s ECN.

EBS completed August with a remarkable upturn in fortunes, reporting a total trading volume of $85.5 billion, which is 20.4% higher than the figures achieved during July this year, a month during which the firm experienced its second lowest volume figures since establishment at $70.6 billion.

The company started the year with reasonable volume figures, which tailed off as the second quarter got underway, therefore August’s volumes represent a positive step toward recovery for the British ECN,

In total contrast to many firms, the trading activity in August this year has usurped that of August last year by 9%, which is remarkable considering that last summer represented a period of record trading volumes for many firms globally, and extremely high volatility across the board.
