CME Group has announced a series of senior leadership appointments across its finance and legal divisions, including the promotion of Jack Tobin to chief financial officer.
Tobin, who has served as chief accounting officer since 2015, will step up to CFO and join the company’s management team in March 2027, when current president and CFO Lynne Fitzpatrick becomes chief executive as previously announced.
Tobin will become deputy chief financial officer in November 2026. Matthew Render will succeed him as chief accounting officer.
The derivatives exchange operator also promoted John Marchese to general counsel. Marchese, who has been managing director and associate general counsel for litigation and information technology since 2024, will join the management team and report to Chairman and Chief Executive Terry Duffy.
Later this month, he will succeed Jonathan Marcus, who is stepping down after serving as general counsel since 2022.
“I want to congratulate Jack, John and Matt on their new roles that demonstrate the strong bench strength we have developed across our leadership team,” said Duffy, who also thanked Marcus for his counsel.
Tobin has more than 35 years of financial experience and joined CME Group in 2002.
Marchese joined in 2011 to lead the company’s litigation function, having previously held positions at Arthur Andersen and Latham & Watkins.
Render joined as deputy chief accounting officer in August 2026, having previously held finance roles at Citadel, BP and Ernst & Young.
