Argentex adds RBS Director Lena Wilson to its executive team

FCA regulated provider of foreign exchange services to institutions, corporates and high net worth private individuals, Argentex Group PLC, has just announced that it has added one of Scotland’s best-known business leaders, Lena Wilson, CBE FRSE to its team as Senior Independent Director and Chairwoman of the Nominations Committee.

Lena Wilson currently serves on the Board of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc and a number of its subsidiaries, Intertek Group plc and Scottish Power Renewables Ltd.

Wilson was Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise from 2009 until 2017, prior to which she was Chief Executive Officer of Scottish Development International, Scotland’s international trade and investment arm.

Wilson was previously Senior Investment Advisor to The World Bank in Washington DC, advising developing countries on foreign direct investment and private sector development. She has also served as a member of Scotland’s Financial Services Advisory Board and as Chair of Scotland’s Energy Jobs Taskforce.

Wilson joins Argentex’s non-executive members of the board including:

  • Lord Digby Jones, Non-Executive Chairman;
  • Nigel Railton, Independent Non-Executive Director;
  • Henry Beckwith, Non-Executive Director and
  • Jonathan Gray, Independent Non-Executive Director.

Argentex is a rapidly growing (revenue grew 66% and operating profit by 103% last year) specialist FX provider to SMEs. Argentex’ operating margin was 41.8% last year. Unlike most of the rest of the sector, Argentex has almost no market or macro risk. At IPO Argentex raised £10.5m net of expenses, to drive future growth. The company currently generates c.72% of its revenue from UK clients, with the other 28% coming from the rest of the world.
