What is the LeapRate Economic Calendar?
The LeapRate Economic Calendar is a real-time tool covering economic events and indicators from the world's major economies. Designed for forex and fintech industry professionals, it tracks central bank rate decisions, employment data, inflation releases, GDP figures, PMIs, and dozens of other market-moving indicators across more than 30 countries.
Data appears automatically as it is released. Each event displays the previous reading, the market consensus forecast, and the actual figure once published. When actual data differs from consensus, it is colour-coded green (better than expected) or red (worse than expected), giving you an instant read on market surprises.
Key Economies Covered
United States
The US economic calendar carries the greatest weight in global markets. Data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Census Bureau, and the Energy Information Administration routinely moves the US Dollar and ripples through forex, fixed income, and equity markets. Federal Reserve interest rate decisions and FOMC Minutes are among the highest-impact events. Key releases include Non-Farm Payrolls, the Consumer Price Index, ISM Manufacturing and Services PMIs, and Retail Sales.
Eurozone
The European Central Bank sets monetary policy for the euro area, and its interest rate decisions are a primary driver of EUR crosses. Eurozone-wide CPI, GDP, and PMI releases carry high impact, alongside individual country data from Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. ECB President Lagarde's speeches are closely monitored for forward guidance on rates.
United Kingdom
The Bank of England implements monetary policy for the sixth-largest global economy. London's position as the world's second-largest financial centre means UK data — particularly GDP, CPI, the unemployment rate, and BoE rate decisions — carries outsized influence on Sterling and broader market sentiment.
Japan
The Bank of Japan has been at the centre of global monetary policy divergence. BoJ rate decisions, GDP data, CPI figures, and the Tankan survey are critical for JPY traders and carry-trade positioning.
Canada, Australia & Switzerland
Bank of Canada, Reserve Bank of Australia, and Swiss National Bank rate decisions are key drivers for CAD, AUD, and CHF respectively. Employment data, GDP, and CPI releases from these economies complete the picture for the major currency pairs.
How to Read the Calendar
Time and Countdown
All events are displayed in chronological order within each day. Times are shown in your selected timezone, which you can change using the clock dropdown in the toolbar. For events occurring within the next 60 minutes, the time column displays a countdown in minutes so you can see at a glance how long until the next release.
Impact Rating
Events are classified as high, medium, or low impact based on their historical ability to move currency markets. High-impact events (three red blocks) have the greatest probability of generating significant price movement. Medium-impact events (two orange blocks) include PMIs, employment sub-indicators, and central bank speeches. Low-impact events (one yellow block) include Treasury auctions and CFTC positioning data.
Actual, Deviation, Consensus and Previous
For each indicator, the calendar displays up to four data points. Previous is the figure from the last release. Consensus is the median forecast from economists. Actual appears the moment data is published, colour-coded green if it beats consensus or red if it misses. Deviation shows the numerical difference between actual and consensus. For central bank speeches, the Consensus column shows "LOCKED" since there is no numerical expectation.
Expandable Event Details
Click any event row to reveal additional information including a description of the indicator, the publishing source, release frequency, and the next scheduled release date.
How to Filter Events
Click the Filter button in the toolbar to open the filter panel. You can narrow the calendar by impact level, country, or event category. Filters can be combined — for example, showing only high-impact US and Eurozone employment and inflation data. Use the date navigation arrows to move between weeks.
Why Use the LeapRate Economic Calendar?
For Industry Professionals
If you work in the forex or fintech industry — whether at a brokerage, liquidity provider, technology vendor, or regulatory body — the economic calendar provides the context behind market moves that affect your business. Understanding when high-impact data drops and how markets are likely to react helps with client communication, risk management, and operational planning.
For Fundamental Traders
Fundamental analysis requires tracking how economies are performing relative to expectations. The economic calendar gives you the data, the consensus, and the surprise — the three inputs that drive post-release price action.
For Risk Management
Even if you trade purely on technicals, knowing when high-volatility events are scheduled helps you manage open positions. Widening spreads and sudden moves around NFP, CPI, or rate decisions can trigger stops and disrupt strategies that work well in quieter markets.
Data Coverage
The LeapRate Economic Calendar covers over 50 types of economic events across more than 30 countries, updated automatically throughout the trading day. Data is sourced from official government statistical agencies, central banks, and institutional data providers.
