LeapRate corrects errors of fact promptly and in the open. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so on the article; we do not quietly amend copy or delete coverage to make a mistake disappear.

What we correct

We correct any material error of fact in our editorial content. This includes names, job titles, figures, dates, regulatory status, licence and registration numbers, misattributed or misquoted statements, and headlines or summaries that misstate the underlying story. We also correct omissions where the missing information changes the meaning of what we published.

A disagreement with our analysis, emphasis or choice of story is not an error of fact. Companies and individuals who dispute our interpretation can ask for a right of reply, set out below.

How to request a correction

Email info@finaffiliates.com with the subject line “Correction request”, or use our contact page. Please include:

  • the URL of the article;
  • the statement you believe is wrong;
  • what you believe is correct;
  • a primary source that supports the correction, such as a regulator notice, company filing, court record or official statement.

We aim to acknowledge requests within two working days. Requests with a primary source are resolved fastest.

How we assess a request

An editor reviews every request against primary sources. We may contact the author, the original source or the company concerned before deciding. If the request is upheld, we correct the article; if it is not, we explain why.

How corrections appear

Corrections. Where we have published a material error of fact, we fix the text and add a dated note at the end of the article: “Correction, [date]: An earlier version of this article stated [X]. It is [Y].” Where the error goes to the core of the story, the note appears at the top.

Clarifications. Where an article was accurate but ambiguous or lacked context a reader needed, we add the context and a dated clarification note.

Updates. Where a story develops after publication, we add the new information and mark the article “Updated [date]” with a short description of what changed. An update is not an admission of error.

Headlines. A corrected headline is always accompanied by a correction note, because search results and social posts may still show the original.

Minor errors. Spelling, grammar and formatting errors that do not change the meaning are fixed without a note.

Regulatory and enforcement coverage

Much of our coverage reports regulator warnings, enforcement actions and licensing decisions. Where a regulator withdraws or amends a notice, a firm’s authorisation status changes, or an appeal overturns a decision, we update the article with a dated note that reflects the current position.

Regulator warnings often concern clone firms that use the name or details of an authorised company. If our coverage could be read as referring to the genuine firm, we add a clarification as soon as it is brought to our attention.

Removal of articles

We do not remove or unpublish articles at the request of the companies or people they cover, and a commercial relationship with LeapRate has no bearing on this. We will remove or restrict an article only where the law requires it, where continued publication poses a credible risk to someone’s safety, or where it is so fundamentally inaccurate that a correction cannot remedy it. Where we remove an article for accuracy reasons, we say so on the page it occupied.

Right of reply

Companies and individuals named in critical coverage can ask us to publish their response. Where the response is substantive and relevant, we add a fair summary of it to the article with a dated note.

Press releases and sponsored content

Press releases are published as supplied by the issuing company, which is responsible for their accuracy. We will correct a press release on the issuer’s request, with a note where the change is material. Sponsored content is labelled as such and is subject to the same correction standards as our editorial content.

Newsletters and social media

Where a corrected article was distributed in a LeapRate newsletter, we note the correction in a following edition if the error was material. Social posts containing an error are corrected or replaced, with the replacement noting the correction.

Escalation

If you are not satisfied with our response, write to the Managing Director at FinAffiliates Limited, 80 Grove Lane, Holt, England, NR25 6ED, or email info@finaffiliates.com marked for the attention of the Managing Director. Our wider editorial standards are set out in our Disclosures and Editorial Independence Policy.
