CME Europe announces the introduction of Dynamic Circuit Breakers in Globex for its Forex contracts

The new Circuit Breakers will be active from market open on Sunday January, 10th 2016 for FX contracts.

CME Europe Limited the European business of CME Group Inc (NASDAQ:CME) has sent out an advisory note today stating they are pleased to announce the introduction of Dynamic Circuit Breakers in Globex for its FX as well as Cocoa contracts.

Dynamic Circuit Breakers are an additional tool to assist CME Europe in maintaining a fair and orderly market. Each contract has a range of values that the Bid or Offer can move to intra-day.

Once the Bid or Offer reach those values (a “limit condition”), a two minute monitoring period is triggered. At the end of the period, if the Bid or Offer is still at the limit condition then the market enters a two minute pre-open state and the circuit breaker limits are set to the next range of values. At the end of the period, if the Bid or Offer is not at the limit condition, then the circuit breaker limits are set to the next range of values and trading continues.

The circuit breaker functionality is explained in more depth here.

The new Circuit Breakers will be active from market open on Monday January 11th, 2016 for Cocoa contracts.

The range of circuit breaker values per contract, alongside the other available trading parameters can be found here.
