Moscow Exchange suspends derivatives trading for more than two hours

Moscow Exchange, or Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), the biggest venue for trading shares, derivatives and currencies in Russia, has been experiencing frequent trading interruptions over the past several months.

Today was not an exception and added to the gloomy statistics – the derivatives market was affected again. The Exchange first confirmed that trading was halted at 10:27 (Moscow time), explaining the suspension with the need to reload the core of the trading system. Derivatives market trading resumed at 12:40 (Moscow Time), after being off for more than two hours.

On September 8, 2015, MOEX suffered a trading outage that affected the derivatives, money, Forex and equity&bond markets. Previously, on September 1, 2015, trading on the Equity & Bond markets was interrupted for half an hour. On August 12, 2015, trading on the derivatives market was suspended for nearly half an hour, from 11:23 MSK to 11:50 MSK. On June 29, 2015, transmission of market data was halted for a short time, whereas on June 15, 2015, trading on this market was interrupted for more than two hours.
