Market making activity increases at KCG in January – up 8.3% compared to December

KCG Holdings, Inc. Class A (NYSE:KCG) has released its trade volumes for the month of January 2015 for the entirety of its operations.

In Market Making, KCG averaged $32.6 billion dollar volume traded, compared with $30.1 billion in December 2014. Additionally, January 2015 trading activity included 5 billion shares traded, and 4.1 million trades per day in U.S. equities.

In Global Execution Services:

KCG electronic execution averaged 322.2 million shares traded per day in U.S. equities

KCG Hotspot averaged $34.3 billion per day in notional foreign exchange dollar volume, representing the second best ever month for KCG’s FX ECN which was recently sold to BATS Global Markets for $365 million

KCG BondPoint averaged $134.4 million per day in fixed income par value

As for the overall market conditions in January, consolidated U.S. equity volume averaged $305.8 billion in dollar volume and 7.3 billion shares traded per day. The realized volatility for the S&P 500 was 17.3.
