The eurozone currency managed to recover some losses this evening amid reports that a preliminary agreement was reached during talks of Eurogroup members on a Greek deal.
Bloomberg quoted a Greek government official saying that an agreement might have been reached today and the deal would see the Greek rescue program extended beyond the end of February 2015.
At the same time, a spokesman for the Greek government said he was not aware of any deal.
The speculation that diminishes the risk of the so-called “Grexit” had a positive impact on the euro, which managed to recover some positions against the US dollar. At the moment of the publication of this material, the EUR/USD is hovering around 1.1416.
