CLS has best ever month settling Forex trades in June

At $5.58 trillion per day in June, CLS volumes were up 15% over May.

CLS, which operates the largest multicurrency cash settlement system, announced that in June it cleared $5.58 billion per day of matched forex instructions — its best ever month and only the fifth time ever that volumes topped $5 trillion.

CLS’s figures indicate that global forex transactions have well surpassed the $4 trillion per day reported in the latest Bank for International Settlements report of September 2010. Assuming CLS settles roughly 80% of all global FX trades, that would put current global FX trading volumes at closer to $7 billion.
