ESMA appoints new Chair to Supervisory Convergence Standing Committee

ESMA ceases renewal of product intervention CFDs measures

The Board of Supervisors of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) announced that has appointed João Sousa Gião, Member of the Board of Directors of the Comissão do mercado de valores mobiliários (CMVM) of Portugal to serve as the chair of the Supervisory Convergence Standing Committee.

The standing committees are expert groups drawn from ESMA staff and the national competent authorities for securities markets regulation in the Member States, and are responsible for the development of policy in their respective areas.

The appointments are for a period of two years and commence with immediate effect.
