ICAP registers 18% MoM decrease in EBS trading volumes in March 2016

Markets operator and provider of post trade risk mitigation and information services ICAP plc (LON:IAP) has earlier today posted its electronic volumes metrics for March 2016, with trading activity on EBS lagging behind February 2016 levels.

Average daily volumes at EBS amounted to $83.7 billion in March 2016, down 18% from February’s reading of $102.6 billion. The annual comparison was even gloomier, as the March 2016 EBS trading volumes were down 27% from the ADV of $114.5 billion registered in March 2015.

Looking at other market segments, we see that US Repo and European Repo volumes rose in monthly terms, but fell in annual terms. The opposite pattern was displayed by US Treasury volumes, which decreased 25% in monthly terms and rose 1% in annual terms.
