CBOE Holdings posts 7% MoM decline in ADV in March 2016

CBOE Holdings, Inc (NASDAQ:CBOE), the holding company for Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), C2 Options Exchange (C2), CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE), and other subsidiaries, has published its operating metrics for March 2016.

The data fits with the broader picture painted by the bulk of the industry thus far, with trading volumes down from February 2016 levels.

CBOE Holdings’ average daily volume for March 2016 was 4.33 million contracts, down 7% in monthly terms and virtually unchanged in annual terms. Total volumes, however, rose 3% in monthly terms, albeit staying roughly unchanged from March 2015 levels.

  • CBOE Volumes

Average daily volume (ADV) at CBOE in March 2016 was 3.88 million contracts, down 6% from February 2016 levels and up 1% from March 2015 levels. Total volume was 85.4 million contracts, up 4% in monthly terms and up 1% in annual terms.

  • C2 Volumes

C2’s ADV was 272,400 contracts in March 2016, registering a drop of 16% from the preceding month and a drop of 12% from March 2015 levels. Total volume was 5.99 million contracts, down 8% from February 2016 levels and down 12% from March 2015 levels.

  • CFE Volumes

Average daily volume at CFE amounted to 179,128 contracts in March 2016, down 12% in monthly terms and up 7% in annual terms. Total volume was 3.94 million contracts, down 4% from February 2016 and up 7% from March 2015 levels.
