KCG sees market making volumes rise 27.5% MoM in January

KCG Holdings, Inc. Class A (NYSE:KCG) has just published its trade volumes metrics for January 2016, with the first month of the new year bringing a steep increase in market making volumes for the company.

In Market Making, KCG averaged $36.2 billion dollar volume traded, 4.9 billion shares traded, and 4.7 million trades per day in U.S. Equities. The result is 27.5% higher than the reading for December 2015, when the volume was $28.4 billion.

In Global Execution Services, the picture was more diverse:

  • KCG Institutional Equities averaged 296.8 million U.S. equity shares traded per day, up 25.1% from the result of 237.3 million reported for December 2015.
  • KCG BondPoint averaged $176.7 million fixed income par value traded per day, up 13.9% from the reading for December 2015.

Regarding the overall market conditions in January 2016, consolidated U.S. equity volume averaged $349.7 billion in dollar volume and 9.3 billion shares traded per day. The realized volatility for the S&P 500 was 24.5, up from the reading of 18.7 for December 2015.
