CBOE Holdings sees ADV jump 32% MoM in January 2016

CBOE Holdings, Inc (NASDAQ:CBOE), the holding company for Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), C2 Options Exchange (C2), CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE), and other subsidiaries, has posted its operating metrics for January 2016, adding its voice to the chorus of companies seeing increased trading activity in the first month of the new year.

The average daily volume was 5.4 million contracts in January 2016, up 32% from December 2015 levels and up 1% from January 2015 levels.

The total trading volume in January for options contracts and futures contracts was 103.0 million contracts, up 14% from December 2015 and down 4% from January 2015 levels.

  • CBOE Volumes

CBOE’s ADV for January 2016 was 4.8 million contracts, up 33% from December 2015 and unchanged from January 2015. Total volume was 90.8 million contracts, up 15% from December 2015 and down 5% from January 2015.

  • C2 Volumes

C2’s ADV for January 2016 was 367,831 contracts, up 21% from December 2015 and up 3% from January 2015. Total volume was 7.0 million contracts, up 4% from December 2015 and down 2% from January 2015.

  • CFE Volumes

Total ADV at CFE was 272,021 contracts in January, up 32% from December 2015 and up 19% from January 2015. Total volume at CFE for January 2016 was 5.2 million contracts, up 14% from December and up 13% from January a year earlier.
