Alpari Russia volumes drop below $100 billion in May

After a sustained period of strong performance last year, Alpari’s Russian operations has begun to experience a prolonged stagnation in trading activity, with the company’s announcing its volume figures for May for Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Total turnover for the month of May 2014 was $93.3 billion, down significantly from April’s $107.7 billion, and also representing the first time that the company has experienced a dip below the $100 billion per month mark since the notoriously low points  which prevailed across the entire industry in 2012.

Despite Alpari’s Russia and CIS business having generated $14.4 billion more revenue during April than May this year, April’s figure of $107.7 billion still represented an 18% drop from the previous month, whereas the firm performed well during January and March this year, bucking the overall industry trend for lower volumes across the board.
