Oanda launches Oanda Marketplace forex appstore

Oanda also engages BeeksFX VPS solution to lower latency.

Retail forex broker Oanda has launched its own version of an appstore, called Oanda Marketplace. Oanda Marketplace includes a directory of tools, software, and products for Oanda traders, and will also act as a distribution channel for developers building their products on the Oanda API.

Historically strong with institutional traders, Oanda has taken several steps recently to increase its visibility and connect with retail clients — the launch of the appstore is one example, the acquisition of forex social network Currensee another. Oanda also recently brought in a new retail-friendly CEO, in the person of PayPal veteran Ed Eger.

Another U-turn being made by Oanda is that historically, Oanda never worked with IT partners, opting to build all products, tools, and services related to its fxTrade platform in-house. With its appstore and new engagement with BeeksFX’s fully managed Virtual Private Server (VPS) service, Oanda is clearly opening up in an effort to give its traders more than it provide by itself.
